Sparkly Lights

What's wonderful is it's Christmas soon.

And not because of the presents, or the sparkly lights, or the time with family, or anything like that. It's because I get to put my feet up for a few days and be busy only with things that do not involve updating a bloody website for a change.

Oh, I lie, as apparently I'm making some changes to a football club's website and designing a community college's brand ID.

A big hello out to Kat in Switzerland, who must either be flying home to spend the time with relatives or sitting, huddled in a flat with no light fittings and only a laptop hooked to Digg.com to keep her warm this festive season. ;)

reality check

I take it back, the stakeholder experience is, in fact, universal. Always take solace in the fact that you're not alone.

...and the ubiquitous number 11 that's an appendix to that list:

When asked what the launch date should be, defuse any sense of
impending doom by jovially suggesting "yesterday". Rest assured your
webmaster will never have heard this one before.

deserted

so what's happened here?? Nothing going on on the other side?

down here in Swiss-land, things are definitely different. Some initial observations.

1) When you leave an apartment here, you take the lights with you. Not just the shades, but all the fixtures, fittings and wiring. So essentially all that's left for the new tenant is a hole in the ceiling. Quite bizarre.

2) Women pay TWICE AS MUCH for mandatory healthcare than men. How unfair!?!

3) Apartments don't have washing machines. Instead, you gather your small things a couple of times a month for the laundry ritual, which involves usually taking a lift down to the bomb-proof basement of your block and trying to figure out the Swiss-German washing machine instructions. That's if you're lucky and haven't missed your slot on the rota, and then you probably have to wait until next month when it's your time again. We've already been warned of the consequences of coming into the office unwashed.

4) The Swiss *really* like cheese and chocolate - fortunately not at the same time.

More coming soon.
